Here is a little taste of some music we played for the Gwich'in Christmas party. I had my iPad focused on the dancers. You'd better believe I was beat by the time we got to the end of this dance! https://www.facebook.com/kayt.sunwood/videos/676524011344746

What kind of instrument do you have in your ID photo there?

Enjoying this dive into music, sounds, and rhythms that are new to me. I play Old Time, Contra, Folk, Bluegrass, and Gwich'in/Athabaskan music. You are inspiring me to expand my horizons this year! 🙏🏼

This afternoon, as the sun has risen enough to kiss the tops of the trees here at the top of the world, I'm heading to town (the University of Alaska Fairbanks Great Hall) to play at the “Here Comes the Sun” Concert with Ice Jam (a band I play with). We are going to celebrate the longer days soon to be coming our way. Ice Jam intends to spread sunlight and cheer (with maybe a couple of winter/snow/cold songs and at least one bear inspired song). South Cushman Social Club follows Ice Jam. I expect they might swing into some jazz before the night is over.

Thanks again for the connections, conversation, and music. 🎶🎵. Keep it coming!

"Gwich'in/Athabaskan music..?." Whoa, you have to tell me about that sometime soon. Glad I could make a snowy day a little more sonically comfy.
