Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre Explores the Buxton Story

Founder Monica Leo marks 50 Years of Puppet Magic
9

2024 marks 50 years of bringing the magic of puppetry to school children, and communities of Iowa. Eulenspiegel Puppet Theater founder Monica Leo joins composer and sound designer Dartanyan to discuss “puppet-tech” and their latest collaboration (with Iowa Author Rachelle Chase) in writing and producing The Buxton Story.

Dartanyan’s late Grandmother Lettie Thompson, born in 1896 revisits us as one of the central characters in The Buxton Story. If you haven’t met her yet, I suggest you begin here.

In our latest podcast, Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre founder Monica Leo outlines the history, culture and design principles behind one of mankind’s earliest forms of storytelling. She’s a true artist. A good friend and a very intriguing interview subject.

In part two coming soon, we’ll visit Monica in her West Liberty, Iowa studio to meet a few of her amazing frien….I mean puppet characters. Stay tuned and consider a paid subscription.
