Julia Child, 1920’s graduate of The Branson School revisits campus in 1999.

I met Julia Child when I became the Director of Technology at The Katharine Branson School (KBS) in 1996. As a graduate of KBS, She paid a visit to campus during the school’s 75th anniversary charming everyone from the first year students to the Board of Directors.

Julia steered me toward this copy of her legendary tome Mastering the Art of French Cooking

Tonight we’re attempting Julia’s Clafouti recipe. Wish us luck.

Oh boy! Getting close…This isn’t the cooking channel so we didn’t video all the steps…. It went into the oven at 4:11pm.

Ok it’s been an hour in the oven and now done. Waiting for it to cool down. I’m lookin’ forward to this. All praises to Julia for the recipe and Paula for the kitchen expertise.

My year-end roundup will post in the next week or so. It has been a total pleasure to post words, music and images for you all this year. Beginning year 3 on January 1st.

You’re all extraordinary Iowans in my book.
