Dartanyan Brown here. I'm an Iowa-born musician and writer who happens to be an African-american descendent of the community of Buxton, Ia. Julie and I have known each other since we were both copy kids for the original Cowles-owned Des Moines Register and Tribune. We both began as Des Moines high school students, Julie at Roosevelt and me at North High.

Rekindled Interest

In our first lunch conversation since 1980-something, I looked down to discover that after an hour, my meal remained virtually untouched. Focused conversation will do that.
